vintage body Stallion model (made in Germany), 2 piece european ash

This high quality ST-style body, based on vintage specifications, was manufactured in Germany. Fender used ash for electric guitar and bass bodies more or less exclusively from 1950 to mid-1956, and to the present continues to use ash on a relatively small number of instruments. Fender then switched to alder because it was easier to come by, cheaper, and didn’t need to be grain or pore filled making it a little less involved on the production end.

Ash is considered to be very resonant and rather bright, especially when paired with single-coil pickups. Ash is resonant across all frequencies but due to a slightly scooped midrange, the highs are a bit more noticeable. Ash offers a percussive attack, the dynamic range of this tonewood is superb. It often gets a transparent finish so that it’s grain is able to peek through, adding dimensional layers to the look.

Slightly harder and denser than swamp ash counterparts, European ash tends to have a straighter grain and a slightly darker colour. It offers a brighter, more focused sound compared to swamp ash. Its density contributes to good sustain and a robust low end.

The quality of milling and detailing is remarkably high. Before finishing this body, it only needs minor sanding. The neck pocket may be very tight and may need some sanding to make a snug fit for the neck you will use. Even though this body is of the highest quality wood, wood is still a natural product and the body you order, may look a bit different than the picture.

The wood used for this body is PEFC certified. The PEFC certificate ensures the wood comes from controlled sources and sustainably managed forests. By closing the chain from the forest to the final product, for every tree harvested a new one comes back. This is because every PEFC-certified forest owner is obliged to ensure planting of young trees after harvesting. This keeps new trees continuously available and helps to maintain forests and combat climate change. CO2 remains stored in the certified wood products as new plantings absorb CO2 as well.

The weight of the bodies currently in stock of this type is 2kg +/- 10%
