Boston vintage body Teaser thinline model (made in Germany)
vintage body Teaser thinline model (made in Germany), 2 piece khaya mahogany
This high quality thinline TE-style body, based on vintage specifications, was manufactured in Germany. Mahogany is regularly used for guitar necks and bodies. Fender used mahogany as the preferred choice for thinline TE guitars from 1968 up to 1972. Apart from the historic background, this Khaya body offers a nice tonal and visual alternative to more conventional TE bodies.
Khaya wood is also known as African mahogany because it’s very similar in appearance and properties to genuine mahogany. Khaya wood is characterized by its reddish-brown colour and often has a straight grain with a medium to coarse texture. It’s prized for its durability, stability, and attractive appearance. It’s perfect as a tonewood, relatively easy to work with and has good finishing properties.
Two-pieced bodies were mostly used for early electric guitar production before bodies were made from more pieces to save costs. It lends itself well for semi-translucent finishes like sunburst, blonde and other colours based on wood stains under a transparent top coat.
The quality of milling and detailing is remarkably high. Before finishing this body, it only needs minor sanding. The neck pocket may be very tight and may need some sanding to make a snug fit for the neck you will use. Even though this body is of the highest quality wood, wood is still a natural product and the body you order, may look a bit different than the picture.
The weight of the bodies currently in stock of this type is 2,1kg +/- 10%
