Benedetto archtop guitar bridge string marker

From the master himself—an ingenious (and fast) way to locate the string spacing on an archtop guitar bridge. With no complicated measurements it's easy and precise to dial in this crucial part of a setup. Designed by the legendary archtop luthier Bob Benedetto, this anodised aluminum tool works for nearly any wooden archtop bridge. No need to worry about different scale lengths or neck widths, the fan-shaped design is intuitive and simple to use.

Like our String Spacing Rule, the spacing is compensated for the changing string diameters, meaning that the strings won't feel crowded when played. No tricky math needed!

Here's how we use it:
With the bridge on the guitar, mark your outside E strings. This will be determined by the width of the neck and the player's preference and style. Mark the locations with a pencil, then deepen your line with a scribe or slotting file. Remove the bridge, and align it upside down over the tool, matching the string order marked on the tool. Match your outside E locations to the same location on the tool. Then press down with a rocking motion to create impressions for the inside four strings. That's it! Now file the marked string locations to the desired depth.
